Stoneygate and Knighton gardens opening for cancer charities
The National Garden Scheme enables private sector gardens to be open for public viewings, with the proceeds benefitting a number of cancer charities, including Marie Curie. The Leicestershire and Rutland programme for 2025 did not include any gardens within the Leicester city boundary. Natura Garden Design has identified a number of gardens, including three of its previous clients, and other interested parties to be put forward for the 2026 programme. In August, the National Garden Scheme county reps have reviewed 5 gardens - each providing a different point of interest, including specialist style gardesn such as Mediterranean garden, a wilding garden and small courtyard garden. These are likely to be included in the 2026 NGS programme in a group garden opening (June 2026). Other gardens may be added in the coming weeks.
Project Giving Back
Project Giving Back (PGB) is a charitable initiative providing funding for charities to be able to present a garden at the Chelsea Flower Show evidencing their work in various categories of garden.
Natura Garden Design supported CRISIS in developing a Crisis community garden, indicating the various initiatives undertaken by the charity to assist their services.
In 2023 there were over 200 expressions of interest in all 3 categories of garden, Natura’s plans for the Crisis garden was shortlisted in the All About Plants category, promoting their proposals for a garden and its future relocation.
PGB funding is continuing for 2025 and 2026 Chelsea Flower shows, and Natura Garden Design is seeking local charities to support in their new submission for funding.
